Can I run hot water down the drain to break up grease?
Grease should never be put down the drain. Even with hot water to clear it out of the sink, it will still cause problems further down the pipe. Grease can cling to other solids in the pipes and cause clogs which lead to sewer overflows. Leftover grease should be placed in a separate container once it is cool and then disposed of in the garbage.
