The City Manager's office conducts the overall administration of the City as prescribed by North Carolina General Statutes; coordinates all activities and carries out all policies and actions of the Eden City Council.
On August 29, 2019, the Eden City Council unanimously adopted a resolution to appoint Terry A. Shelton to serve as Interim City Manager.
Terry has been with the City of Eden since 1979.
He has spent more than half his life as a dedicated public servant for Eden. Terry has an impeccable record serving Eden’s citizens. He is well respected among his peers and co-workers.
He is a native Virginian and grew up in Collinsville and Ridgeway, but began working in Eden with Hardee’s after graduation from high school in 1973. After graduating from Virginia Tech in 1979, Terry married and established a home in Eden. He began working for the City of Eden at the new Water Filtration Plant as a plant operator in October of 1979. Terry has served in most positions available throughout the Public Utilities Department during his full-time career before his retirement in 2014. He has worked part-time as Public Utilities Director since 2015.
Terry is a member of the City’s Board of Adjustment and Keep Eden Beautiful Committee, as well as a member of the Rockingham County Local Government Emergency Planning Committee. He holds membership in several professional organizations.
Terry holds multiple state certifications in water and wastewater. He is also a state licensed real estate broker and with his wife Faye, owns a real estate business in downtown Eden.
