Eden North Carolina

Where Promise Flows

 Freedom Park History

The Playground of Our Future began in 1996 with the formation of the Eden Park Committee.  After several years of dreaming, planning, and designing, the committee was awarded a $150,000 grant from the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund.  The grant was matched equally by the City of Eden and the two gifts provided the funds needed to launch the first phase of park development in the fall of 2000.

Freedom Park Amenities

Freedom Ball Field Complex

Completed in 2005 was Phase II of the park's construction, which created a top-of-the-line ball field complex.  The complex features three top-quality fields consisting of Tifton 10 Bermuda outfields, brick dust infields, dugouts, concession building, bathrooms, warm-up area and outfield fencing at 300' in left and right fields and 315' in center field.  Infields have been designated to adjust base paths from 60', 65', 70' and 80'.  The adjustable base paths will allow various organizations the opportunity to use the field for tournament play.  Additional features include portable baseball mounds, bleacher seating and batting cage.

Ball Field Rental

The complex may be rented out for tournaments.  The fee includes use of lights, initial field set-up, bases, restroom, score buildings and scoreboards.  Additional field preparation requests must be made in advance for a fee.  A deposit is required to hold a reservation.
